What Is A Parrothead ?

To answer your question…We are people who enjoy the Jimmy Buffett lifestyle and believe in his idealism of "doing something nice for the planet. " We are a group of people who not only like to party, but enjoy getting involved in a variety of community and environmental services.

Our motto is "Party for a Purpose". We hold events and volunteer time for different causes.

In 2012 the Clinton County Parrot Head Club charity focus is on:

COMMUNITY LINK –As an innovator in the human service industry since 1972, Community Link provides  a variety of services to over 500 children and adults with developmental disabilities.

Camp Joy Boy Scout Camp, located 45 miles east of St. Louis near Carlyle, Illinois is 165 acres. The camp offers a traditional Boy Scout summer camping program as well as a year-round camping opportunity for both Scout units and non-Scout organizations. Camp Joy is home to the Tribe of Mannaseh, a camping recognition program designed to encourage youth to return to summer camp each year. This program, along with the Order of the Arrow, further strengthen the Scouting program within the camp.

Chakota Therapeutic Riding Center  offers therapeutic riding sessions for people with exceptionalities such as Cerebral Palsy, Austism, Down Syndrome, Spina Bifida, Traumatic Brain Injury, Asperger's Syndrome, and many more.  Therapeutic Horsemanship and equine assisted therapy offer many opportunities to people who may otherwise not be able to do certain things.  Therapeutic Horsemanship is caring for horses, riding, driving, grooming, and other activities are good for anyone, but for someone with an exceptionality these activities have physical, cognitive, psychological, and emotional benefits also.

ALZHEIMER ASSOCIATION- The Alzheimer's Association, today a multimillion-dollar organization, has been the catalyst and leader for a generation of advancements in Alzheimer research and care. Their achievements and progress in the field have given thousands of people a better quality of life and brought hope for millions more.

RELAY FOR LIFE- Relay For Life® is the American Cancer Society's signature event that brings more than 3.5 million people from 4,900 communities across the country together each year to celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against a disease that takes too much.

Since its inception in October 2007, Clinton County Parrothead Club has grown to 100+ members and has already become a part of Adopt-A-Highway (New Hwy 50 between Breese & Beckemeyer) and has had a fundraiser to buy books for area grade schools. We not only strive to help the environment & community but we also like to get out of Dodge every now and then. Parrotheads like to head to the beach or a concert whenever they can. We like to take excursions that range from a bus trip to the Loading Dock in Grafton to hanging out on Duval Street in Key West.
